Big 5 names baseball weekly award winners

March 2, 2010

Temple senior second baseman Tony Jusino (San Diego, CA / Grossmont College) and Villanova sophomore lefthander Kyle Helisek (Cranberry Twp., PA / Seneca Valley) have been named the Philadelphia Big 5 player and pitcher of the week, respectively, in voting conducted by the city’s head coaches and sports information offices.

Jusnio batted .632 (12-for-19) in a four-game series at UNLV this weekend. He scored six runs and knocked in two for the Owls. His best performance was a 5-for-6 showing in the series finale on Sunday.

Helisek allowed one earned run in seven innings in an 8-1 victory over Indiana in the Big East-Big Ten Challenge in Florida. He scattered four hits and struck out two batters.

The Big 5 will announce its weekly player and pitcher awards every Tuesday throughout the season. The fifth annual all-Big 5 baseball team will be announced at the end of the season.
