Big 5 names basketball Players of the Week

Men’s Player of the Week
The Philadelphia Big 5 honored Darrin Govens (Sr., G) of Saint Joseph’s with the Big 5 Men’s Player of the Week award. Govens averaged 18 points, three rebounds, and four assists per game in a 2-0 week for the Hawks. He scored 19 points at George Washington and then followed that up with 17 points, four assists, and two boards in the 74-59 win over La Salle, which clinched a berth to the Atlantic10 Tournament for the Hawks.

Honor Roll
• Rodney Green (Sr., G) of La Salle averaged 21.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game as the Explorers went 1-1 on the week. He completed his career at La Salle placing ninth on the all-time scoring list.
• Jack Eggleston (Jr., F) of Penn tallied nine points, five rebounds, and a career-high seven assists against Harvard on Friday. He followed this up by scoring a career-high 25 points and grabbing 11 boards for his fifth double-double of the season against Dartmouth on Saturday.
• Scottie Reynolds (Sr., G) of Villanova averaged 17 points per game as the Wildcats went 1-1 on the week. He racked up 17 points, five assists, a steal, and a board in the 77-73 win over Cincinnati on Tuesday. He added on another 17 points, five rebounds, and three assists against #10 West Virginia on Senior Day.
• Lavoy Allen (Jr., F) of Temple averaged 15 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 71.4% from the field as the Owls went 2-0 on the week. He racked up a game-high 18 points along with a game-high 14 rebounds in the key Atlantic-10 win over Saint Louis. He helped Temple capture the first A-10 regular season title since 2002 with the 70-57 win over George Washington. He scored 12 points in the game, including the 1000th of his career.

Women’s Player of the Week
Temple’s Kristen McCarthy (So., F) was awarded Player of the Week on the women’s side. McCarthy averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and five assists per game on the week. She earned a double-double by scoring a game-high 21 points along with 11 boards in the Atlantic 10 quarterfinal win vs. Duquesne. She then tied a team-high with 14 points and grabbed four rebounds and one assist in the Owls’ semifinal win against Dayton, leading her team to play for the A-10 championship against #5 Xavier on Monday.

• Ashley Logue (Sr., C) of Saint Joseph’s averaged 17 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in the Hawks’ two games at the Atlantic 10 Tournament. She shot 5-for-11 from the field, finishing with 17 points, five rebounds, and a steal as the Hawks defeated Fordham 76-62 in the first round of the tournament.
• Maria Getty (Sr., G) of Villanova averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and added on five steals and five assists as the Wildcats went 1-1 on the week. She finished the season with 20 double-figure scoring games and led Villanova in scoring (11.6 points per game), assists (84), three-point field goals (64), and steals (45).
• Amy Donovan (Sr., F) of Penn averaged 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game on the week for the Quakers. She also shot an average 73.3 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
