Penn 2007-08 Preview

Penn (22-9, 13-1) has won the last three Ivy crowns and an impressive seven out of the last nine, but the loss of three starters -- including a pair of three-time All-Ivy selections in Mark Zoller and two-time Player of the Year Ibrahim Jaaber -- will have the second-year head coach Glen Miller and the Quakers leaning on their six-man freshman class for major contributions.

In assembling his first recruiting class at Penn, Miller and his staff plucked three players from California: swingman Tyler Bernardini (Carlsbad), point guard Harrison Gaines (Victorville), and forward Conor Turley (La Canada). The Quakers also picked up the runner-up for the Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year in guard Remy Cofield (Newton); nabbed guard/forward Danny Monckton from the Chicago suburb of Glenview; and added forward Jack Eggleston of Noblesville, Ind., who played his high school ball in Florida.

Coach Miller: "I am very pleased with our incoming freshman class," said Miller. "We managed to fulfill our positional needs, while also adding athleticism and versatility to blend in nicely with our returning players and fit into our style of play here at Penn. This group has players who possess the potential to contribute immediately."
